We All Need Parks!

Unprecedented in scope and scale, the Countywide Parks and Recreation Needs Assessment quantifies the need for parks and recreation resources in Los Angeles County (Cities and Unincorporated Areas) and estimates the potential cost of meeting that need. Completed in May 2016, the final report is now available here.

INTERACTIVE MAPS AND DATA

The inventory and analysis of parks and open space in Los Angeles County generated many maps and new data points. These maps and data are available to the public in three formats: an interactive website, a map layer viewer, and as downloads for use with GIS software. NEXT STEPS

On May 3, 2016 the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors received the Parks Needs Assessment and discussed a potential parks funding measure (Statement of Proceedings).

On July 5, 2016 the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors received the final report of the Parks Needs Assessment and approved the placement of a parks funding measure on the November 8, 2016 ballot (Statement of Proceedings).

The Safe, Clean Neighborhood Parks, Open Space, Beaches, Rivers Protection, and Water Conservation Measure reflects many of the important findings of the Park Needs Assessment.
