Below is a snapshot of important events to date of the Park Needs Project

November 2014

Motion presented by Supervisor Antonovich and Supervisor Ridley-Thomas directing the Chief Executive Office and Department of Parks and Recreation to report back to the Board in 30 days with a plan to produce a Countywide Comprehensive Needs Assessment. Adopted 4-0 by the Board.

February 2015 

Motion by Supervisor Ridley-Thomas and Supervisor Antonovich outlining the development of the Countywide Comprehensive Park Needs Assessment, funding and management services agreement. Adopted 5-0 by the Board.

February 2015

Consultant initiates work program for the Countywide Comprehensive Needs Assessment.

March 2015

Steering Committee invitations are extended by the Parks and Recreation Department.

“We All Need PARKS” is established as the Park Needs Assessment slogan.

Consultant initiates informational materials for the Park Needs Assessment.

April 15, 2015

LA County Department of Parks and Recreation launches the Park Needs Assessment Website – www.LACountyParkNeeds.org. All related Park Needs Assessment and Steering Committee information will be available to the public on this site.

Parks Needs Assessment Community Engagement Workshops held in 177 Study Areas countywide.

March 2016

Cost estimates of prioritized projects from each Study Area are currently being prepared.
